Perfect weather conditions for night game, clear, 23,000 sellout crowd on hand...Hawaii scoring first and leading at the end of the first half on two field goals, 6-0...the Cougars, behind quarterback Gary Sheide, score with 4:32 left in the third quarter, but not until Hawaii had added another field goal, making the score 9-7...Hawaii closed out the third quarter with another field goal, this time from 44 yards to make the talley 12-7...with 10:24 left in the game Hawaii's Stuprich added his fifth and final field goal...score, 15-7...Cougars Mike Russell intercepted a pass and returned it 31 yards for a TD putting the Cats on the scoreboard again with 7:48 left in the game...with the socre 15-13 quarterback Sheide's attempt for a two-point conversion failed...statistically, the Cougars lead in most categories gaining a total of 359 offensive yards, 154 in the air and 205 rushing, 165 of them by Blanc.
