Venting their frustration on the visiting Rams, the Cougars scored in every quarter. Gifford Nielsen hit on four touchdown passes (three of them to split end John VanDerWouden) John also caught a fourth touchdown pass from reserve quarterback Terry McEwen in the final quarter. Jeff Blanc gained 72 yards rushing, and tailback Dave Lowry had a sparkling 59-yard kickoff return. BYU gave up 127 yards on penalties. VanDerWouden was named WAC offensive player of the week. Colorado State finished the season with a 6-5 record.
