- BYU was Kansas State's only win on the season
The season opener was one of those "could've" games for the Cougars. BYU had only ten men on the field when a Cougar player fumbled an attempted punt and the Wildcats recovered on the one. KS punched it over the next play for the only touchdown scored in the game. "Their defensive line beat our offensive line" noted Edwards in a post-game review. The victory was the only one of the year for the Wildcats who went 1-10 for the season.
