The victory in the lid-lifter in the Cotton Bowl can be credited to the Cougars' defensive unit, points not-withstanding...Golden Richards, who set three NCAA records and tied another in kick returns, accumulated 219 yards and two TDs on his returns...Joe Liljenquist added 11 points to the total with two field goals (51 and 25 yards) and five conversion kicks...defensively, the Cougars claimed six interceptions and recovered three NTS fumbles.
