In WAC finale, BYU lost five fumbles, but still managed to win before crowd of 7,350 in Sun Bowl...defense played well again...Cougar offense did not have a good night...Jeff Blanc was injured, Gifford Nielsen started slowly, but wound up with 7 of 12...cold temperatures for the night game may have accounted for lack of offensive punch.
