Despite cold weather, the Cougars exploded with an aerial game that wouldn't quit...mostly Gary Sheide to Jay Miller passes that produced a new NCAA record for Miller (22 receptions in one game)...Sheide threw a total of six TD passes and completed 32 out of 50 attempts, and scored another TD on a run...BYU had a 33-7 lead at half...Cougar offensive line provided excellent protection...Mike Russell intercepted three passes for BYU...Cougars went to the air a total of 58 times...Lobos' final score, a Williams to Labarre pass, came just as the game ended.
