In their first afternoon game of the season, the Cougars were out-run and out-passed before 32,000 fans in Iowa...Cyclones controlled most of the game...first quarter saw a defensive struggle with both teams forced to relinquish the ball...Iowa State was leading 5-0 at the end of the first quarter on a field goal and a safety...Iowa scores again during the second quarter to bring the score to 15-0...the trend continued throughout the third quarter which ended at 22-0...Cougars broke into the scoring column on a touchdown pass from Giles to Betham with 13:08 left in the game...Iowa dominated the remainder of scoring with a TD, safety and another field goal to complete the game 34-7...the Cats had difficulty getting their offense started
