24,005 fans saw one of the finest football games ever between the Falcons and the Cougars under cloudy, rainy skies in 50 degree temperature...the teams were well matched and the stats proved it was a well contested battle...the Cats scored first on a Sheide to Billick pass from 11 yards out, but the PAT was blocked -- ending the first quarter...Air Force scored on a field goal during the second quarter making the half time score 6-3...during the third quarter Sheide again took to the air and completed one of his 30 passes to Kirk Tanner for a 12-3 score...the fourth quarter saw the Falcons connect on one of quarterback Shaw's passes for a 21 yard TD completing the scoring 12-10...the Cougars had 350 total yards, only 36 more than the Falcons...other stats showed the teams surprisingly even in both rushing and passing.
