The worst playing conditions of the year did not detract from the Cougar aerial show, as four Wilson passes found their way through the snow flurries for four TDs, and 494 more passing yards were added to the Cougar statistics. Wilson also went 33-49 with no interceptions under the protection of such linemen as Tom Bell, Nick Eyre, Danny Hansen, Randy Tidwell, and Scott Neilson. Wilson connected twice with Homer Jones, and once each with Matt Braga and Scott Phillips for the passing TDs. The remaining four were run in twice by Steve Carlsen and once each by Homer Jones and Eric Lane. Reserve quarterback Royce Bybee led Carlsen's scoring efforts when he entered the game late in the third quarter. The Cowboys made scoring efforts in the second and third quarters on a Davis pass and run, but the efforts were in vain as BYU ran its record up to 6-0.
