BYU narrowly defeated the Washington Huskies on the road with a blocked PAT by junior defensive lineman Jan Jorgensen in the final seconds to secure a 28-27 win. The Cougars were up 28-21 following a 15-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Max Hall to tight end Dennis Pitta with less than four minutes remaining in the game. The BYU defense was unable to hold back the Huskies as their quarterback ran in a three-yard touchdown. The Huskies were charged with a 15-yard penalty for celebrating following the touchdown and attempted the blocked PAT from the 25-yard line. BYU got on the board first with Hall completing to junior receiver Austin Collie for a 38-yard touchdown pass, but the Huskies answered back to tie the game, before taking a 14-7 lead on their following drive. Sophomore running back Harvey Unga rushed BYU downfield before Hall completed a one-yard touchdown pass to junior tight end Andrew George tying the game 14-14 at the half. Washington scored on a one-yard touchdown pass and the Cougars answered back with a 14-yard touchdown run by senior running back Fui Vakapuna. The Cougars took the lead with Hall’s 15-yard pass to Pitta before the Huskies matched the touchdown, but failed on the extra-point. Unga rushed for 136 yards, Pitta caught 10 balls for 148 yards and Hall passed for 338 yards and three touchdowns.
