Junior receiver Austin Collie led the Cougars with his third-straight game with more than 100 receiving yards while BYU improved to 5-0 with a 34-14 victory over the Utah State Aggies in Logan, Utah. Collie totaled eight catches for 132 yards with two touchdowns. Junior Quarterback Max Hall threw for 303 yards spreading the ball to seven different receivers during the night. BYU had 406 yards of total offense as sophomore running back Harvey Unga ran for 92 yard on 22 carries. The Cougars extended their streak of shutout quarter to 11 before Utah State scored on a 40-yard touchdown run with just under 14 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Prior to Utah State’s touchdown BYU had scored 137 unanswered points against three different opponents. Hall and Collie began making an impact with a 76-yard touchdown during BYU’s first series of the game. The Cougar defense recovered a fumble after junior linebacker Coleby Clawson rushed the quarterback for a sack. Sophomore Mitch Payne kicked a 45-yard field through the uprights. Linebacker David Nixon followed with an interception to set the Cougars up for an 11-yard touchdown run for Unga. Payne kicked his second field goal of the game from 21 yards out before the Cougars scored their final points when Hall and Collie met again on a 12-yard pass to the corner of the end zone. The Aggies scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter for the 34-14 final score.
