Colorado State scored the game's first 14 points and didn't look back, defeating BYU 58-13. The loss was the Cougars' worst since a 48-0 drubbing by Wyoming in 1950 and the most points BYU had ever given up at home.

Bradlee Van Pelt finished the game with 192 yards passing and three scores. At one point in the game, Van Pelt was 3 for 3 for 122 yards and two scores.

The Cougars scored all of their points in the first half on two Matt Payne field goals and a nine-yard pass from John Beck to Justin Jory. The loss was BYU's third in a row at home.
